FTC Puts Pressure On Health, Energy Sectors: Report

Law360, New York (March 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has played an active role in investigating mergers and challenging anti-competitive activities in health care, energy and other sectors within the last year, according to a report by the commission.

The report, released by FTC Chairwoman Deborah Platt Majoras on Friday, showed that out of the total enforcement actions initiated by the FTC since 2005, nearly 40% involved the health care and pharmaceutical industry, about 17% dealt with the energy sector and 2.5% focused on the technology industry.
