Feds Probe Md. Insurance Exchange, Lawmaker Says

Law360, New York (March 10, 2014, 4:18 PM EDT) -- The inspector general for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will investigate Maryland’s state-run health insurance exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act, following its troubled rollout, a Maryland congressman said Monday.

The investigation comes after the lawmaker, U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, last month requested the probe, citing “the flagrant waste and abuse of taxpayer monies” spent on Maryland’s online insurance marketplace.
