Visto Corp. Sues To Challenge Blackberry Market

Law360, New York (January 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The potential blackout of Research In Motion Ltd.’s Blackberry service has continued to spawn licensing deals and lawsuits among RIM’s competitors, who hope to position their companies to get a bite of the growing market for wireless email.

The market may open up exponentially should NTP and RIM fail to seal a deal to stop an injunction issued against RIM in 2002. The Canadian company failed to win an appeal before the U.S. Supreme Court and now faces a possible $1 billion settlement with NTP....
