Call Center Tricked Debtors Into Revealing Info, Suit Says

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 1:03 PM EDT) -- Call center operator GC Services LP was accused in a proposed class action Friday of leaving cryptic telephone messages designed to trick consumer debtors into calling back and revealing personal information.

In the course of collecting alleged consumer debts, Houston-based GC routinely contacted individuals via telephone and left voice messages that instructed recipients to call back about an “important” matter but never disclosed the purpose of the call or the identity of the caller, according to the complaint filed in New York federal court.
