Calpine’s Unsecured Creditors To Retain Akin Gump

Law360, New York (January 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A week after Calpine Corp. hired a host of lawyers and consultants to guide the company in its Chapter 11 filing, the power giant’s unsecured creditors committee has asked to retain Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as its counsel.

The committee filed the request at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan on Monday. It is asking a federal judge to name Michael S. Stramer, a partner at Akin Gump, as the lead attorney.
