Settlements OK'd With Tax Cos. In NJ Lien Bid-Rigging Suit

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 8:09 PM EDT) -- A magistrate judge in a New Jersey federal court granted preliminary approval Tuesday to four separate settlement agreements totaling close to $6.8 million with some of the defendants in a consolidated class action accusing several tax companies of bid-rigging the auctions for municipal tax liens.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Tonianne J. Bongiovanni signed off on the settlement plans with four groups of defendants named in the consolidated lawsuit and ordered that a fairness hearing be set for a future date to determine final approval.
