Navy Adds $1.2B To Ingalls, Bath Iron Works Ship Contracts

Law360, Washington (March 17, 2014, 12:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Navy has beefed up two destroyer building contracts, awarding Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. and General Dynamics Corp.'s Bath Iron Works subsidiary more than $1.2 billion to construct two additional Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, the Navy said Friday.

Huntington Ingalls garnered a nearly $602 million modification and Bath Iron Works received a $642 million contract modification, allowing each company to build one additional Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, or DDG-51, after winning the initial contracts in June.
