GE Escapes Former La. Shipyard Worker's Asbestos Suit

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 7:38 PM ET) -- A Louisiana federal court on Friday freed General Electric Co. from an asbestos injury suit that accused the technology giant of supplying turbines to a shipyard where a Louisiana woman worked for years before succumbing to the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma.
U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier dismissed with prejudice claims against GE, saying that the plaintiffs have not shown enough proof that Sally Gros Vedros, who had worked at the Avondale Shipyard in Louisiana for years, suffered from mesothelioma because of asbestos that was made or...
