Geico, Others Accused Of Violating NJ Insurer's Trademark

Law360, Los Angeles (March 20, 2014, 4:56 PM EDT) -- The owner of a New Jersey insurance business filed a million-dollar lawsuit Wednesday alleging that Geico, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., Allstate Insurance Co. and others are allowing a third-party site to send customers their way under his trademarked name.

Gary’s Auto Insurance Agency LLC says it is losing business to a website run by posing under its brand name. The website uses the Gary’s name to grant quotes to would-be customers for other major insurance companies, according to the suit.
