Mich. Gov. Signs Tax Audit Transparency Bill

Law360, New York (March 21, 2014, 3:39 PM EDT) -- Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed legislation Thursday requiring state tax auditors to release work papers, documentation and other correspondence to taxpayers they audit in order to make the examination and determination processes more transparent.

House Bill 4291 passed Michigan's House and Senate unanimously and now becomes Public Act 35 of 2014.

“Undergoing a tax audit is a difficult process, and this bill will make sure taxpayers who are being audited have access to all pertinent information so they can be as prepared as possible,” Snyder said...
