Centrica-Led Group Nails Down €1.1B Irish Utility Buy

Law360, New York (March 25, 2014, 2:14 PM EDT) -- British gas owner Centrica PLC and two private equity firms will take over a branch of the Irish government-owned Bord Gais Eireann in a deal worth €1.1 billion ($1.52 billion) as Ireland moves to deregulate its energy industry, they said Tuesday.

Under the terms of the deal, Centrica and private equity firms Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP and Icon Infrastructure Partners II LP will pick up Bord Gais Eireann's gas and electricity arm Bord Gais Energy and the 445-megawatt Whitegate gas-fired power station in County Cork....
