Telenor Probed Over Claims It Squeezes Data Rivals

Law360, New York (March 26, 2014, 12:59 PM EDT) -- A European antitrust watchdog has launched an investigation into whether telecommunications company Telenor ASA has illegally pushed competitors out of the mobile data marketplace, the regulator announced Wednesday.

The European Free Trade Association Surveillance Authority, which is responsible for enforcing antitrust regulations in Norway, Switzerland and Iceland, said Wednesday that it has opened a formal investigation into whether Norway-based Telenor ASA and its Telenor Norge AS unit have charged prices that resulted in an “illegal margin squeeze” of competitors in the mobile data market.
