Calif. Senator Charged With Corruption, Gun Crimes

Law360, San Francisco (March 26, 2014, 10:04 PM EDT) -- California state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, was charged with public corruption and conspiracy to traffic and import firearms Wednesday in California federal court as part of a massive federal dragnet that charged 25 others, many with ties to an organized crime ring in San Francisco.

Yee, who was arrested Wednesday morning, entered the courtroom shackled and grim-faced. He didn't speak during the proceedings, except to say that he understood the charges against him.
