Charlotte Mayor Resigns After Public Corruption Arrest

Law360, Los Angeles (March 26, 2014, 7:09 PM ET) -- Charlotte, N.C., Mayor Patrick Cannon resigned Wednesday evening, hours after federal investigators arrested him and charged him with public corruption, bribery and theft.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation alleged Cannon took at least $48,000 in payments and gifts in exchange for using his influence to help would-be developers build projects in the city, according to a statement from the agency.
