EMI Hit With $2.9M Verdict Over 'Love Machine' Royalties

Law360, Los Angeles (March 27, 2014, 7:16 PM ET) -- A California jury on Thursday awarded the writers of The Miracles' hit 1975 song "Love Machine" $2.9 million for their breach of contract and fraud claims against EMI Music Publishing, finding EMI intentionally ignored a co-publishing agreement and improperly withheld royalties, according to the songwriters' attorney.
