Manitowoc, Enodis To Merge Despite Antitrust Fears

Law360, New York (April 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Manitowoc Co. Inc. has offered to purchase British food and beverage equipment manufacturer Enodis Plc for £948 million ($1.9 billion) almost two years after a previous attempt to merge collapsed under antitrust scrutiny.

U.S.-based Manitowoc went public with its offer Monday, in the hopes that “the successful integration of the two businesses will result in improved growth prospects and the opportunity to deliver significant synergies,” the companies said.
