Former Bell South Worker Loses Appeal In Firing Case

Law360, Miami (April 24, 2014, 4:48 PM ET) -- A Florida appeals court on Wednesday affirmed summary judgment against a woman claiming Bell South Telecommunications Inc.'s refusal to limit her workweek during her high-risk pregnancy and her subsequent termination caused complications that led to a premature birth, ruling that her doctor's testimony was inadmissible.

A Third District Court of Appeal panel affirmed the judgment against Maria Franco Perez and her son Osmany Anthony Perez, who was born 20 weeks early after his mother suffered a placental abruption, resulting in surgeries and developmental deficits.
