Convicted Ex-Jenkens Atty Loses Bid For Retrial

Law360, New York (May 08, 2014, 12:59 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday denied a request by former Jenkens & Gilchrist PC boss Paul Daugerdas to overturn his tax evasion and fraud convictions, saying prosecutors had provided an "overwhelming" amount of evidence during his trial.

U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III rejected Daugerdas' claims that the government had presented swaps transactions that lacked economic substance and other flimsy proof in order to convince a jury he had helped create illegal tax shelters for wealthy clients.
