Metrologic Ordered To Pay $13M Arbitration Award

Law360, New York (March 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has ordered barcode equipment maker Metrologic Instruments Inc. to pay a $13.4 million arbitration award to its rival after it allegedly failed to pay royalties on a patent license agreement.

The past-due royalties will be paid to Symbol Technologies Inc., which sued Metrologic in May 2002 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, after Metrologic allegedly breaches its 1996 licensing agreement.
