Professor Reaches 4th Settlement Over LED Patent

Law360, New York (May 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Columbia University professor has settled her dispute with Epistar Corp. over its alleged infringement of her patents for light-emitting diodes found in a range of common electronic devices.

Gertrude Neumark Rothschild entered into a settlement agreement granting the Taiwanese technology company a worldwide license to use the technology claimed in two U.S. patents for blue and green LEDs, said attorney James Zirin of Sidley Austin LLP, which announced the settlement Tuesday.
