India to Push for Early Passage of Patents Bill

Law360, New York (December 9, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- India’s government has drafted the third amendment to the Patents Bill and plans to push it for an early passage by the Parliament, official sources told the Economic Times of India.

Effective from 2005, the amendment is primarily designed to meet the obligation of extending product patents to pharma and agrochemical sectors under the World Trade Organization agreement on Trade Related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).
