Title Insurers Dodge Antitrust Scrutiny: Suit

Law360, New York (May 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several firms that together control over 90% of the domestic title insurance market have been accused of using a state-mandated association to try to conform with U.S. Supreme Court precedent while fixing New Jersey rates, allegedly in violation of federal antitrust law.

A proposed class action, filed May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, lodges Sherman Act charges against a Who's-Who of domestic title insurance giants and their affiliates.
