Crocs Awarded $56M In Suit Over 'Shoe Charms'

Law360, New York (May 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A suit over little plastic charms used to decorate Crocs shoes has resulted in a big judgment against two Chinese companies found to have infringed hundreds of copyrighted designs.

Jibbitz LLC, the wholly owned unit of Crocs Inc. that produces 1,100 different styles of “shoe charms,” filed suit against Jinjiang Huakai Shoes and Garments Co. Ltd. and Jinjiang Jiaxing Shoes and Garments Co. Ltd. in February, but the two companies never responded to the complaint or appeared at hearings in the case.
