Inventor Defeats Company In LED Patent Fight

Law360, New York (March 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The extended battle between a Japanese company and one of its former employees over a patent for light-emitting diodes (LED) technology has finally drawn to a close, with the company dropping its claims to the patent.

Nichia Corp. relinquished the rights to the patent after a five-year dispute with inventor and former employee Shuki Nakamura, saying that advances in technology had rendered maintaining the patent unnecessary.
