Transocean Offshore Drill Patent Suit Dismissed

Law360, New York (May 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed a patent infringement suit brought by Transocean Inc., the world’s largest offshore drilling company, against a Bermuda-based rival, ruling the court has no jurisdiction over the matter.

Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday dismissed the suit, which Transocean filed against Stena Drilling Ltd. in August after finding that the allegedly infringed drilling technology was not sold or offered for sale in the United States.
