Sun Microsystems Writers Win Class Certification

Law360, New York (May 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California Superior Court judge has granted a motion for class certification in a lawsuit accusing Sun Microsystems Inc. of misclassifying its technical writers as exempt from the state's overtime and meal-period requirements.

On Tuesday, Judge Jack Komar certified a class of all people employed by Sun Microsystems as a “technical writer 1 through 5” or by SeeBeyond Technology Corp. as a technical writer or senior technical writer between Sept. 21, 2002, through final judgment.

SeeBeyond was acquired by Sun Microsystems in in 2005.
