HP Wins $51M Judgment Against Insurer

Law360, New York (May 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. has won a $51 million judgment against a Philadelphia insurance company to cover costs it incurred defending an antitrust counterclaim lodged after a patent infringement suit over ink cartridges.

U.S. District Judge James Ware found ACE Property & Casualty Insurance Co. liable under the “advertiser's injury” coverage for defense expenses, prejudgment interest and costs, according to Gauntlett & Associates, an Irvine, Calif.-based firm specializing in insurance recovery.
