Wyeth, Nycomed Take Aim At Sandoz Over Protonix

Law360, New York (May 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Nycomed GmbH have moved again to protect a patent for their injectable heartburn treatment Protonix, launching a lawsuit against a unit of Novartis AG that plans a copycat version of the drug.

The suit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, seeks a court order that Novartis' generics-making subsidiary, Sandoz Inc., infringed a patent covering Protonix IV, marketed by Wyeth, which licenses the patent from Nycomed.
