Mattel, Bratz Inventor Settle Suit Over Dolls

Law360, New York (May 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Mattel Inc. has settled its lawsuit against Carter Bryant, the inventor of the popular Bratz doll, but is continuing its copyright case against MGA Entertainment, which makes and markets the Bratz doll collection.

Mattel did not disclose the terms of the settlement agreement and said Bryant conceived of the dolls — which have big heads, pouting lips and heavily made-up eyes — while working for the company as a Barbie designer.
