Baxter Sues Talecris Over Blood Test Patents

Law360, New York (May 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Baxter Healthcare Corp. is suing Talecris Biotherapeutics Inc. for allegedly infringing three of Baxter's patents on methods of testing blood for infection.

Baxter filed suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina along with the National Genetics Institute, a subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings that holds a license on the patents. NGI provides blood testing services for HIV, hepatitis and other infections, according to the complaint.
