Two Courts Overturn Vioxx Rulings Against Merck

Law360, New York (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Appeals courts in Texas and New Jersey have lifted more than $36 million in court awards against Merck & Co. Inc. from early lawsuits over painkiller Vioxx.

The Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals overturned a $23.1 million judgment in favor of the widow of Robert Ernst, which resulted from the first Vioxx case to go to trial.
