Skin Cream Patent Claims Against Immudyne Tossed

Law360, New York (May 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has dismissed patent infringement claims brought by Biopolymer Engineering Inc. against Immudyne Inc. over a yeast-derived skin cream solution, saying the disputed patents actually belong to Immudyne, not Biopolymer.

The controversy dates back to 1996, when Immudyne and inventor Byron Donzis entered into a settlement agreement affirming various patent licenses between the parties related to a yeast-derived compound called glucan used in anti-wrinkling and sun protection skin cream. Following the settlement agreement, Donzis received several more glucan-related patents.
