Defense Firm Manager Pleads Guilty To Bid-Rigging

Law360, New York (May 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former manager of a cargo equipment manufacturer has admitted his role in a scheme to rig bids on military contracts and take kickbacks from subcontractors and vendors, the U.S. Department of Justice said Friday.

Wilson Freire, the onetime government contracts manager at West Sayville, N.Y.-based Peck & Hale LLC, has agreed to serve one year in jail and pay a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York to two charges in connection with the scheme....
