Following Lerach, Weiss To Head To Prison

Law360, New York (May 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge sentenced pioneer plaintiffs attorney Melvyn Weiss to 30 months in prison Monday, a sentence slightly longer than his peer William S. Lerach received but still short of what the government had requested.

Weiss' appearance before Judge John F. Walter of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California concludes an important chapter in the kickback probe that brought down giants in the plaintiffs field.
