DOL Audits Law Firm's Immigration Applications

Law360, New York (June 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Labor is auditing all the permanent labor certification applications filed by Fragomen Del Ray Bernsen & Loewy LLP, claiming that the international immigration law firm appears to have illegally directed certain clients to consult with attorneys before hiring U.S. workers.

Employers are allowed to sponsor a foreign employee's request for a green card, which grants permanent residence, as long as they can prove that there are no U.S. workers who can match the person's skills and qualifications.
