Visto-RIM Suit Takes Breather For Patent Re-Exam

Law360, New York (June 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- One of the many patent suits pitting BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. against its rival Visto Corp. will be stayed pending the re-examination of one of the patents at issue, a judge ruled Monday.

Judge Maxine Chesney of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted Visto's motion to stay the case while the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office re-examines one of RIM's patents for technology that alerts users of wireless devices to incoming messages.
