Jury Fines Arthur Andersen, Politico $51M

Law360, New York (June 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Oregon jury has awarded investors $51 million after ruling that defunct accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP helped a state politician misappropriate millions of dollars from three venture capital funds.

The state jury handed down its verdict in the Multnomah County Circuit Court on Thursday, finding Andersen and Craig Berkman guilty on all counts, and awarding $36 million in compensation and another $15 million in punitive damages.
