Senators Prod U.S. Trade Rep To Act Against OPEC

Law360, New York (June 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eleven senators have asked the Bush administration to take action against oil-exporting countries for allegedly operating an illegal cartel.

In a letter sent Tuesday, the senators asked U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab to file a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization against the eight WTO members that are also members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Those countries are Nigeria, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Kuwait.
