K&L Gates, Kennedy Covington To Merge July 1

Law360, New York (June 23, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman LLP, one of the largest firms in North and South Carolina, will merge with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP on July 1, creating the largest presence of any global firm in the Carolinas.

Partners at the two firms approved the merger on Monday, and the combined firm will maintain the K&L Gates name. Kennedy Covington's 175 attorneys in five offices will join K&L Gates' 1,500 attorneys in 25 offices around the world.
