Deals Rumor Mill: Holcim, Vodafone, Guggenheim

By Benjamin Horney (December 3, 2014, 7:22 PM EST) -- The European Union is set to give a regulatory thumbs-up to a merger between Swiss cement maker Holcim Ltd. and French peer Lafarge SA, Reuters reported on Wednesday. According to the report, the regulatory authority may make the companies sell one or two more assets to ease concerns, and an official announcement could come within the next few days. A final decision will definitely come by Dec. 15, the report said. Early last month, Holcim said it was gearing up to sell a group of assets in order to alleviate EU worries regarding the deal, which would create combined company with sales of nearly $44 billion and a market value above $50 billion....
