Novellus To Pay $168,000 To Settle Harassment Suit

Law360, New York (June 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Silicon Valley company will pay a former employee $168,000 to settle a racial harassment and retaliation lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Monday.

Novellus Systems Inc., a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, was charged with violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title I of the Civil Rights Act of 1991 when it fired a black assembly line worker who complained about a co-worker's racially charged music last September.
