Toyota, GM Venture Settles Donning, Doffing Suit

Law360, New York (June 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. has agreed to pay $4.65 million to settle a wage-and-hour dispute with workers who sought compensation for time spent donning and doffing safety gear.

The company, which is a joint venture of Toyota Motor Co. and General Motors, will distribute the payout to approximately 1,300 production, maintenance and repair workers at its car manufacturing plant in Fremont, Calif.
