What's Past Is Prologue For CPSC In 2015

Law360, New York (January 5, 2015, 11:23 AM EST) -- The Dec. 2, 2014, Senate confirmation of sitting U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Commissioner Robert Adler for a second term capped off a very active year for the CPSC in 2014. Commissioner Adler's confirmation follows the July 28, 2014, confirmation of Elliot Kaye as the new chairman of the CPSC and Joseph Mohorovic as a commissioner. Commissioner Adler's term expired in October, and he was acting in his holdover period. Commissioner Adler had been nominated for the second term in May of this year, but although the committee sent Commissioner Adler's nomination to the Senate floor along with the nominations of now Chairman Kaye and Commissioner Mohorovic, it was not taken up by the Senate at that time. Commissioner Adler's largely party line confirmation vote of 53-44 in the Senate probably further reflects some of the controversy surrounding initiatives and proposals made during his time as acting chairman....
