Courts Side With God In Dress Code Battles

Law360, New York (July 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- While the law gives ample leeway to employers to craft dress codes, courts are increasingly finding for workers who cry religion when their garb clashes with a company's policies.

Recent cases show faith can trump the will of employers wanting to maintain a certain public image, and companies should keep in mind that while appearance codes are not governed by federal law, they must err on the right side of Title VII.
