Microchip Sues Luminary Over Patents Under Review

Law360, New York (April 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Microchip Technology Inc. has hit rival Luminary Micro Inc. with an infringement lawsuit over of three microcontroller patents that are currently being re-examined by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Microchip, an Arizona-based microcontroller and analog semiconductor provider, launched the suit against microcontrollers distributor Luminary in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Microchip alleges that Luminary’s 28-pin Stellaris series of 32-bit microcontrollers violate three of its patents.
