Number Of Law Firm Mergers Up This Quarter

Law360, New York (July 08, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The number of law firm mergers has picked up sharply this year, reaching 26 in the second quarter of 2008, despite the economic slump that has touched certain legal practices, according to consulting firm Altman Weil Inc.

The consulting firm counted 26 law firm maergers between April 1 and June 30, compared to 18 in the first quarter of this year, 16 in the fourth quarter of 2007 and 17 in the third and second quarters of last year.
