Verizon To Pay $21M Over Early Termination Fees

Law360, New York (July 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Verizon Wireless, the New York-based wireless provider jointly owned by Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group Plc, has agreed to pay $21 million to settle a class action brought by customers in California who challenged the company's early termination fees.

Details of the July 8 settlement agreement must still be finalized and authorized by the Alameda County Superior Court, the Associated Press reported. The settlement resolves multiple claims by customers who say they were unfairly charged for breaking their cell phone contracts early.
