Germany Fines Cosmetic Firms €10M For Sharing Info

Law360, New York (July 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Germany's federal cartel office has fined a group of high-end cosmetic makers that includes Estee Lauder and L'Oreal a total of about €10 million ($15.7 million) for allegedly sharing information, the office announced Thursday.

The companies fined are Chanel, Clarins, Cosmopolitan Cosmetics Prestige (now P&G Prestige Products), Coty Prestige Lancaster, Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, LVMH Parfums & Kosmetik, Shiseido and YSL Beaute, according to the office. Fines for the individual companies ranged from €250,000 to €2.1 million.
