Jury Hands DeepNines $18M Victory Over McAfee

Law360, New York (July 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal jury has awarded network security company DeepNines Inc. $18 million in a patent dispute with rival McAfee Inc., finding that McAfee infringed a DeepNines patent related to network security technology and deceived the public by marking its products with an invalid patent.

Following a trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the jury found that McAfee's IntruShield product line infringes U.S. Patent Number 7,058,976, which is assigned to DeepNines.
