Nokia Settles Overtime Suit With Former Employees

Law360, New York (July 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Nokia Inc. has agreed to settle a Fair Labor Standards Act suit filed by former employees who allege the Finnish cell phone maker failed to pay overtime compensation and misclassified them as independent contractors.

In an order filed July 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Judge Reed O'Connor dismissed the plaintiffs' disputed claims against Nokia, which allege that the company violated the FLSA by not paying overtime to the plaintiffs who “routinely” worked more than 40 hours on the job....
